Today’s Jay Fund Hero – Derrek Bedaro
New Jersey native, Derrek Bedaro was 12 years old when he was diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoma. He never imagined that he wouldn’t beat it. Not only did he beat it, he’s become a true American hero! Nominated by his best friend and fellow die-hard New York Giants fan, Peter Zappella said it best:
“My hero is my best friend Derrek Bedaro. When Derrek was 12 years old he was diagnosed with B-cell Lymphoma. after treatment and with support from his family and friends, Derrek won his fight and has been Cancer free ever since. After graduating high school, Derrek once again showed courage and selflessness by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps and serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has been a great friend and an inspiration with his constant positive attitude and great ability to help others around him before himself.”
Congratulations to Derrek Bedaro for BEing THERE for America, and being a Jay Fund September Hero!
