Today’s Jay Fund Hero – Anthony Scancarello
Today’s hero was recently honored by his football team by naming him Captain. Meet 7 year old Anthony Scancarello from Monroe, New York. On the field, this proud Bulldog had the honor of carrying the flag and handling the coin toss before a recent game. He then walked off the field and cheered on his team from the sidelines. He couldn’t play because he was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia on May 31, 2013 and he is now in his third phase of treatment.
Anthony’s dad, Sal Scancarello shared, “[Anthony] has an incredible spirit and smile and he’s very determined to conquer his disease. Each and every day I am amazed by his determination and strength, as he handles his new life with leukemia, as though he was an adult..and just goes with it. He is a strong and resilient boy who’s spirit and smile are what get all of us through his treatments without ever a complaint. I’m just so incredibly proud of him!”
We are, too! That’s why you are today’s Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Hero, little man! You are undoubtedly a hero in our book, Anthony, and we look forward to watching you return to football and conquer ALL very soon!
Donate to the Jay Fund in honor of Anthony or in honor of your hero! Every dollar makes a difference, when you have a child with cancer.
