September Jay Fund Hero – Helena Richards

Today’s Jay Fund Hero – Helena Richards

Some people may know her through childhood cancer support groups or her work at Nemours Children Clinic.  Others, know Helena Richards through her passion and support of her family and friends – all of whom respect and adore her.  She’s a proud mother and grandmother who works tirelessly to help anyone in need of support, at home and at work.

Helena Richards was born to help others.  Perhaps that explains why she became a social worker.  Helena works at the Nemours Pediatric Oncology Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, and she is a critical link between families and the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation.  Regularly, you’ll see or experience firsthand, how Helena goes above and beyond her job responsibilities to help families in need.  She has been instrumental in creating a support group for parents and children and is always looking for extra ways to help  Nemours families who are tackling childhood cancer.  She works efficiently, juggling the many tasks required on a daily basis, but always finds time to sit and listen when someone needs to talk, whether it be a parent trying to figure out how they will pay for the much needed bone marrow treatment for their sick child, a nurse whose patient’s prognosis brought her mood to an all time low, or a child who could use an extra smile that day.

Helena has a unique way with people and knows how to navigate systems with her uncanny ability to motivate people into action.  She is a thoughtful, selfless, caring individual who just happens to be a social worker.  The Nemours Children’s Clinic and The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation are lucky to have such a dedicated partner.  Thank you, Helena.  Helena Richards is today’s Jay Fund Hero!
