In April 2023, Allen’s life changed when he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer. What followed was an intense and challenging journey of surgeries, hospital stays and setbacks that tested his courage and the strength of his family.
In March 2024, Allen faced a relapse requiring additional treatment, and in March 2025, he underwent a lower limb amputation. Since then, he has been learning how to stay mobile, care for himself, and navigate his daily life with determination and optimism.
The demands of Allen’s care have been overwhelming for his family. His mother has been unable to work, and the financial strain has made it difficult to keep up with rent payments and afford the high cost of groceries. Simple necessities have become daily challenges, adding stress to an already exhausting journey.
The Jay Fund has stepped in to provide financial support for the family’s housing and groceries to keep food on their table — giving them the stability and relief they desperately needed so they could focus on Allen’s care and recovery.
Through it all, Allen remains bright, cheerful and full of hope. His faith and determination shine through every day, and he looks forward to receiving a prosthetic in the months ahead, ready to embrace life with the same courage he has shown throughout his journey.
Allen’s story is a reminder that childhood cancer affects every part of a family’s life — physically, emotionally and financially. The Jay Fund is proud to support families like Allen’s, ensuring no child or parent has to face this fight alone.
