September Jay Fund Hero – Rachel Kovach

Today’s Jay Fund Hero – Rachel Kovach

Diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in January of 2011, a then 11 year old Rachel Kovach began an intense treatment regimen of chemotherapy and surgery. The road that lay ahead of her was going to be tough but surrounded by friends and family, Rachel vowed she would get back to her life of going to school, swimming, being a die-hard NY Giants fan and most of all, being able to call herself “cancer-free!

Now 13 years old, Rachel is on a mission to increase awareness about pediatric cancer. In fact, Rachel decided she wanted to create a public service announcement about pediatric cancer with none other than her favorite NY Giants player, Mark Herzlich. Rachel’s wish has been granted by Make-A-Wish New Jersey and the PSA is the result of her mission for helping others.

Nominated by Melissa Ann, her friend shared, “Rachel Kovach is my hero. Rachel was diagnosed in 6th grade with Ewings Sarcoma. She never missed a beat with her positive spirit and hope. Rachel took her experience as a cancer patient and helped others. She raised money for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Make Some Noise foundation and had her school work on projects for the patients at CHOP. Rachel also used her Make A Wish to make a PSA to raise awareness about pediatric cancer. Rachel is my hero because she continued to give even while fighting for her life.

We’re so proud of you, Rachel! You are certainly a Jay Fund hero! Donate to the Jay Fund in honor of Rachel Kovach or in honor of your hero! Every dollar makes a difference, when you have a child with cancer.
