The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund, in partnership with Winn-Dixie and THE PLAYERS, hosted a special shopping experience for families caring for a child with cancer during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Hunger Action Month——designed to ease everyday pressures that often intensify during treatment.
Chelsea and Corey’s family was one of the families that participated. Their youngest daughter, Mary, was diagnosed with infantile fibrosarcoma at just 6 months old. Since her diagnosis in June 2025, Chelsea and Corey have managed a constant cycle of medications, appointments and procedures, all while caring for their two older children, Paul and Alice. The demands of Mary’s care brought significant financial and emotional strain as the family struggled to keep up with their mortgage payments and adjusted to an uncertain path forward.
Through the Jay Fund’s support, the family experienced a meaningful moment of relief. The shopping spree offered practical help, but also reassurance during a time when much of their life felt out of their control.
“There has been so much uncertainty since the day Mary was born and a tumor was detected in her leg,” Chelsea shared. “This journey can feel invisible to the outside world, but it hasn’t been invisible to the Jay Fund. They made our family feel seen and understood when that mattered most and made sure our pantry, freezer and medicine cabinets were stocked to the brim.”
Chelsea also reflected on how the shopping spree experience supported their entire family. “Our older children were included in such a thoughtful way, and we were surrounded by kindness and care. Knowing we are supported by people who understand what we’re going through has brought comfort during a very difficult season.”
Through partnerships with Winn-Dixie and THE PLAYERS, the Jay Fund continues to support families like Chelsea and Corey’s—helping ease daily burdens and reminding them they are not alone as they care for their child.
