Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation to Disburse $500,000 to Support New York/New Jersey Families Tackling Childhood Cancer

NEW YORK, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation today announced it will award grants totaling$500,000 to its community partners in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area for disbursement during fiscal year 2015. The grants will fund programs run by local organizations who share the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund’s commitment to providing comprehensive financial, emotional and practical support to families affected by childhood cancer.

The grants will help pediatric oncology patients and their families in a number of ways including:

  • Financial support for the management of household expenses that can range from mortgage and rent payments to hospital parking and public transportation fees
  • The purchase of therapeutic art and music supplies used during sessions that help to ease the fears of children undergoing treatment
  • Information and counseling for teens and young adults dealing with late effects of cancer treatment and survivorship issues
  • One-on-one in home support for siblings struggling with their brother’s or sister’s illness
  • Special events like holiday parties, summer camps, and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that provide much needed breaks from treatment and other medical issues
  • College scholarships
  • Holiday Meals and Holiday Adopt-a-Family programs
