This summer, the River City Men’s Chorus will begin its fourth season. Originally formed as a completely voluntary community men’s chorus by Wayne Bailey, retired director of Choral Studies and professor of Vocal Music for Florida State College at Jacksonville. The group has grown to include over 40 diverse professional and amateur vocalists today. River City Mens Chorus is not only dedicated to artistic singing, but equally committed to helping raise funds for local charities, like the Jay Fund. This year we are proud to announce that they are dedicating all of the proceeds of this summer’s four free benefit concerts to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund.
The theme, ” I Carry Your Heart with Me!” will incorporate several styles of music. A freewill offering will be taken during each concert to benefit the Jay Fund who support children with leukemia and other cancers and their families by providing emotional and financial support to help reduce the stress associated with treatment and improve their quality of life.
Each concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., with the first concert scheduled on July 9th at Deer Meadows Baptist Church, 9780 Baymeadows Road, Guest Artist – Scott Watkins. Second concert is on July 12th at St. John’s Cathedral, 3256 East Church Street, with Guest Artist- Timothy Tuller. Third concert will be on July 16th at Hendricks Ave. Baptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Avenue, Guest Artist – Andrew Clarke. The last concert will be on July 19th at Lakewood Presbyterian Church, 2001 University Boulevard West, Guest Artist -Rodney Cleveland. BE THERE for a month of beautiful music!
