If your family is facing the financial strain of a childhood cancer diagnosis, the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund is here to walk alongside you. We provide emergency financial assistance to help families stay in their homes and keep the lights on while their child is in treatment.

Who qualifies for Jay Fund assistance?
We provide support to families in specific regions of the East Coast, outlined below.

To be eligible for financial aid, the patient must be:

  • Age: A child or young adult (ages 0–22).
  • Treatment Status: Currently in active treatment or within six months of completing treatment.
  • Location: A resident of North Florida, South Georgia, Northern New Jersey, or New York City.

How to apply for financial aid
To ensure help reaches those who need it most, the Jay Fund works directly with medical professionals.

To begin the application process:

  • Contact your hospital social worker: They will request and submit the application on your behalf.
  • Verification: We work closely with hospital teams to process all requests for financial support.

What expenses does the Jay Fund cover?
We provide temporary financial assistance for essential household expenses. We support all families, regardless of socioeconomic status, who are struggling to keep up with bills due to the costs of cancer care.

Examples of bills we pay include:

  • Housing: Mortgage and rent payments.
  • Utilities: Electricity, water, phone, and cable bills.
  • Basic Needs: Food and grocery assistance.
  • Transportation: Costs associated with getting to and from treatment.
