September Jay Fund Hero – Addie Starks

Today’s Jay Fund Hero – Addie Starks

Meet Addie Starks, a girl who lost her best friend to childhood cancer, and turned that tragic loss into a passion to help families tackling the the disease.  Addie, a University of North Florida graduate who works at Bailey’s Gym, began volunteering for the Jay Fund in 2009 following the tragic loss of her high school friend Sara Cronin, a former Jay Fund scholarship winner.   Addie saw firsthand the impact that cancer had on her friend Sara and Sara’s family, so she’s made it her mission to keep Sara’s memory alive by volunteering for a cause close to the Cronin family…the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation.  Addie has been a ray of sunshine since at the Jay Fund’s Celebrity Golf Classics, the Wine Galas, Remembrance Weekend, at Nemours Clinic and at every project and event the Jay Fund has ever asked for help with.

Addie said “I can’t really put into words how I feel about helping these kids.  It’s almost like food for my soul. It makes me happy and makes me whole“.  Addie’s impact on the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund and so many kids tackling cancer is immeasurable.  Thank you, Addie for BEing THERE and for being a Jay Fund Hero!

Donate to the Jay Fund in honor of Addie Starks, Sara Cronin or in honor of your hero!  Every dollar makes a difference, when you have a child with cancer.
