Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Announces 20th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic Benefiting Families Tackling Childhood Cancer

Star-studded platinum anniversary event benefits NY Giants Head Coach’s Foundation and celebrates the life of Boston College star athlete Jay McGillis

 JACKSONVILLE, FL, May 12, 2015 – The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation today announced its 20th Annual Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic will be held May 17-18 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL in partnership with THE PLAYERS. This year’s platinum anniversary event begins with a dinner and auction starting at 6 p.m. at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse on May 17th.  The Celebrity Golf Classic tees off at 8:30 a.m. the following day at THE PLAYERS Stadium Course.

Proceeds from the sold out, premier two-day Golf Classic will go to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund, which provides financial, emotional and practical  assistance to families tackling childhood cancer. The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund was created in honor of Jay McGillis, a special young man who died of leukemia while a member of Coach Coughlin’s team at Boston College.

We thank THE PLAYERS and all the participants for allowing us to continue to BE THERE for families facing the unthinkable”, said Tom Coughlin, founder of the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund.

Celebrities confirmed to participate include a dozen current New York Giants players such as Victor Cruz and Justin Pugh, supermodel Kim Alexis, ESPN sportscaster Chris Berman, NFL Coaches Chuck Pagano and Mike Smith, race car driving legend Hurley Haywood, 2015 NFL Hall of Fame inductee Bill Polian and NFL alumni Mark Brunell, Doug Flutie and Chris Snee among many other notables.

In honor of the platinum anniversary and on the day of the Boston College graduation, several of Jay McGillis’ Boston College Teammates will also be participating to honor his legacy including Charlie Brennan, Steven Boyd, Pete Mitchell, Tom McManus and Mike Panos. In addition, Jay McGillis’ parents and 4 of his 5 siblings will join in for this special anniversary occasion.
